Jalen Flaring

A shot of Jalen, my rescue Betta, flaring. He's quite the angry baby.

I rescued Jalen from a one-year-old's birthday party where he was being used as a cake topper in a tiny bowl. Now at 1 year and three months old he's doing great! He's in a five gallon heated and filtered tank, the care standard for a Betta fish. He will live up to seven years.

Please never keep Betta in bowls or use them as decorations. They are pets that require just as much care as anything else, and a proper setup is costly. They are not impulse buys. They really are such personality filled and wonderful pets when they are not being kept in a cold, dirty bowl.
